Nicosia through the eyes of 4 designers
Exhibition “Nicosia (European Capital of Culture 2017 candidate) through the eyes of 4 designers”.
About the place
Be the change - χο(ω)ροποιός... a new place that functions as a “glass box” where free thinking can be promoted by aiming to stimulate creativity reaching out to all spectrum of the society. It is a project space where the process, the progress and the result of each project will be visible. All actions have one common denominator: the will for change, for better living, for a safer future, for more social intelligence and engagement.
"Let us all be the change we want to see in the world". Mahatma Gandhi

About the design(er)s
Constantinos Evangelides
Time to start, time to stop, time for change, time for moving on.
All through the day, the green line moves. It comes and goes, spreads and shrinks.
Four times a day, the clock's hands form the green line.
Meanwhile inside the core of the clock, the worker has hanged his tools.
Marlen Andreou
“An attempt combining the technique used, the image of the city as I have ever met. A divided Nicosia… a divided necklace on the neck of Aphrodite”
Tita Stylianou
The installation has a symbolic character. The dress represents our country. The scarf that embraces the dress is us (the people) and our effort for a change and for a better future, which can be achieved if we broaden our horizons and cultivate the positive zones of life.
The materials used are also symbolic. The garments are made of fabric in the colour of the flesh and the earth. Their composition is linen and silk, fibers that are both natural and sensitive. The scarf is embroidered by hand which required effort, time and devotion as any attempt for change. The embroidery is unfinished because every visitor can contribute a word or idea which will be added later, since every change will succeed with team effort.
Sophia Charalambous
Through a ballet of colours, a fully optimistic world is being popped up in the viewer's eye where a sensation, creation and alternation game is resulted. Leather contacts plastic and the old, the new. The final stroke of brush is being determined by the artist and the viewer who operate as a team through experience exchange.
