Nikos Kouroussis - Metamorphosis
The exhibition Metamorphosis comes to illuminate the scenographic work of Nikos Kouroussiss over the course of 30 years of theatrical events in Cyprus, focusing on a large number of drawings and drafts for sets and costumes he created for theatrical productions.
Nikos Kouroussis was born in Mitsero in 1937. He studied in London at St. Marin’s School of Art (1960-1961) and at Hornsey College of Art (1961-1964). He later attended a course on stage design in England in 1977 (on a scholarship from the British Council) and made research and gave lectures in U.S.A. (on a Fulbright scholarship) in 1986. He gave a series of lectures on art at Pratt University in New York in 1976 and 1988 as guest artist, as well as at South Dacota State University. He worked as stage and costume designer in Cyprus and abroad.
Kouroussis has shown his work in solo exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad: Germany, Athens, London, New York, etc. Also participated in many group exhibitions.
