Nikosia
The Sophia Foundation for Children and the University of Nicosia, with the support of the Embassy of Spain, present a concert by the Spanish pop music group Nikosia.
The band NIKOSIA began its musical trip in an attic flat in Gràcia, a neighborhood of Barcelona. Francesc Miralles and Joana Costa met there and decided to set up a band with the aim of creating a new sound and a new musical concept. Francesc worked with the company and with all his creative talent composed among other songs, the authentic "Melancholy #1" and the sweet "Benvingut al mon" (Welcome to the world). Joana used all her passion to interpret them. Short after those first rehearsals, Estel Villaronga (violin), Albert Ortiz I Ferrer (guitar) and others joined the two founding members and, rehearsal after rehearsal, the number of songs began to increase. With the aim of gaining experience in concerts, NIKOSIA created the concept "Pocket concerts". In these private concerts that took place every Friday, the band would invite its best friends in little groups so that they could listen to and comment on the band's new songs. When the band acquired experience enough and had the impression of having a consolidated enough repertoire, the members of the band decided to record its first album under the name "The Long Journey of Wolves", an artwork that has received many compliments upon its publication.
All proceeds will be donated to the Sophia Foundation for Children, in support of children in Kenya.
Tickets are priced at 10 euro / pre-sold at the University of Nicosia and Da Capo Cafe, Makarios Avenue.
