Not That

After successful performances in Nicosia and Limassol, Milena Ugren Koulas presents her new, full-length work “Not That” at Markideio Theater, Paphos on 04.06.2011 and at Municipal Theater of Larnaca on 05.06.2011. The work is a continuation of the explorations undertaken by the choreographers over the last number of years, which concentrate on inconspicuous ideas and movement research that combines traditional dance-making and a signature movement vocabulary developed by Ugren.

Ugren is well-known as a powerful contemporary dancer, whose work ethic fuels her choreographic work and gives it strength and power.

The new work accompanied by original music by Giorgos Koulas and Lefteris Moschovias.

"Not That" is about illusions and questioning of what is reality and what is dream. The abstract idea becomes a physical image, as Ugren manipulates body lines, in individual dancers and their relationship to each other.

The choreographer, along with dancers, look for new ways of moving by placing themselves in compromised positions, and searching for freedom in trapped situations, whether literal or abstract. Ugren maintains simplicity in structure in order to de-clutter the complexity of movement.
