"Ο Αρφός του" Jazz Quintet

After a sequel of successful appearances around the island, "Ο Αρφός του" Jazz Quintet comes to Paphos for a presentation of original compositions at Technopolis 20, on Friday, January 27 at 8pm.

As a result of a long friendship and common musical taste, five musicians decided to form this unique quintet. After hours of preparation and work as a team, they have chosen to perform their own original compositions. A mixture of straight-ahead Jazz repertory, with their own interpretation, creativity and imagination. Musicians playing: Marios Papares (Tenor Sax/ Compositions), Elias Ioannou (Trumpet/ Compositions), Georges Issa (Guitar), Kyriakos Kestas (Acoustic Bass/ Compositions), Andreas Combos (Drums).

A few words about the artists

Marios Papares is a saxophonist born in Limassol. His musical journey started at the age of 28, busking around Europe, Australia and India. In 2010 he graduated from the European University of Cyprus with a bachelor’s degree in music, major in Jazz Performance. Since then he has worked as a professional musician with numerous appearances around the island. Currently he is teaching music at Lighthouse School, composing and performing for "Ο Αρφός του" Jazz Quintet.

Elias Ioannou was born and raised in Limassol. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Music from Codarts University in Rotterdam with a specialization in Jazz Trumpet. He participated three times at the North Sea Jazz Festival and in several master classes with jazz players such as: Barry Harris, Joshua Redman, Snarky Puppy, Aaron Parks, Amik Querra. He is currently based in Limassol where he teaches and plays the trumpet for different bands.

Kyriacos Kestas is a Limassol based bassist. He performed in several jazz festivals the last 5 years. Currently he performs with various bands in Cyprus.

Andreas Combos is a Limassol based drummer. He has been regularly performing with various bands in many venues and Jazz festivals in Cyprus during the past few years.

Georges Issa is a jazz guitar player based in Limassol and he performs around the island with various bands.
