Oedipus the King
On Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 8 pm, the Theatre Museum, celebrating three years of operation, will host the play "Oedipus the King" of Sophocles by the Cyprus Theatre Organisation (Stage 018)
A new approach to Sophocles’ play, which attempts a different reading of the myth, presented by THOC Stage 018. Four new actors under the revolutionary direction of Panayiotis Larkou meet Oedipus in our days and, through a stormy clash between body and emotions, invent new theatrical forms, giving answers to old questions. The music by Dimitris Spyrou attacks the text and covers with light the fate of its characters. A king will fall to save his people. A lover will be lost so that a son can be reborn. A man will stand before the gods and will exchange the vision of his eyes with the vision of his mind. He will count up his life and the result will be zero. This man is called Oedipus and this is his story.
