Oliver!

The Larnaca Municipality is proud to present Lionel Bart’s musical masterpiece, Oliver! based on the world famous novel by Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist. On July 1st and 2nd 2010 at 9 p.m. the stage of the Pattichio amphitheatre will be transformed into a spectacular version of Victorian London to accommodate the need of this particular production commemorating the show’s 50th anniversary.

50 years ago Oliver! the first musical adaptation of Dickens’s novel was presented by Lionel Bart at London’s West End. It grew to be one of the most loved productions of musical theatre around the world. By special agreement with the “most successful and most powerful producer of our age” according to New York times, Sir Cameron Mackintosh, and under his strict supervision, the present musical has been adapted to fit an outdoor amphitheatre and is accompanied by a live orchestra, the West End Theatre Orchestra. It comes complete with a cast of more than 50 people arriving straight from London. The result is an impressive production directed by Ian Talbot, especially designed for the Pattichio Municipal Amphitheatre of Larnaca by Ben M. Rogers and produced by Julian Reeve. At the role of Fagin is the renowned musical singer, artist and actor Peter Corry. The well known theatre performer Debbie Kurup plays Nancy and Hal Fowler is guised as Bill Skyes.
