Olympia Dukakis in Cyprus for the 1st Time
One of the most important events in the history of film education in Cyprus will take place on February of this year. Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis will be in Cyprus for one week to hold an intensive “How to Work with Actors” workshop at ARTos Foundation.
Olympia Dukakis has starred in films like Steel Magnolias, Mr. Holland's Opus, Mighty Aphrodite, and Moonstruck, for which she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. After years of acting in movies and television, Ms. Dukakis felt the biggest gap in the education of her peers was in the communication between actors and directors. For this reason she has created a workshop that deals with exactly that subject. She has been invited to teach this workshop at New York University and Columbia University’s graduate film program.
The workshop that will take place at Artos Foundation from the 16 – 21 of February, 2010, is ideal for professional actors and directors who want to improve their skills with hands-on practice. The idea is to be able to work together under the guidance of Ms. Dukakis, and workshop original material and do scene work in a low stress environment. This is also a great opportunity to create collaborative relationships for future projects.
