"Once Upon...Every Time" and Paralitheia"
Chorotheatro Omada Pende, presents this month in Nicosia the works "Once Upon...Every Time" (2009) and "Paralitheia" (2010) of Chloe Melidou.
Two works inspired by Cypus’ traditional and popular fairytales. Through fairytales, music and the choreographic process, the choreographer attempts to trace...repeated archetypal images, phrases and movements, testing the limits of physical and mental endurance.
The work "Once Upon...Every Time" was presented for the first time with three performers, in Paris in February 2008 at the Festival Printemps des Poetes, of the University of Paris 8 and in April 2009 at the Theatre Festival at the multi-space Epee des Bois, also in Paris. It reached its final form and was presented as a solo at the Contemporary Dance Platform of Cyprus in March 2009, at the International Festival of Theatre and Art in London (Art Theatre) in November 2009 and at the OPEN HOUSE DANCE AND PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL of the Dance House Lemesos, in September 2010.
The piece "Paralitheia" was composed for the participation of the group at the Summer Dance Festival of the New Movement Dancers, Choreographer Cyprus in July 2010.
