Ophelia

An exhibition presenting the latest artistic work of Christina Christophoridou.

Lellos Art Point is proud to present the new solo exhibition of the artist Christina Christophoridou, titled: ᾽Ophelia᾽. The exhibition consists of the artist᾽s latest works in oil.

An amalgam of images and emotions, Christophoridou᾽s work is taking us on an adventurous journey through time and space. Within her paintings -most of them flashing monuments of vision and feelings- every day themes, turn into colourful imaginary worlds. The artist᾽s painted collages become an emotional and touching confession, and exude a mysterious darkness, luring the viewers into her symbolic, surreal universe, full of allegories and twisted fairytales.

Inspired by Shakespeare and Elytis, Christophoridou creates her own |visual| poems that blend both figures and objects, places and symbols, questioning the sanity of the (sub)consciousness, and making us face our most intimate desires.

“I walk amid thorns, amid the darkness,
amid what has been and what is yet to become.
My only weapon, my only defence,
are my nails,
purple, just like the cyclamens.

She would always ask ' Do you remember ? '
Remember what.
I only remember dreams, because I see them during the nighttime.
But during the day I feel bad, how can I say it, unprepared.
