Painting within - Sevan Malikyan
Kypriaki Gonia Gallery in Larnaka, presents an exhibition of paintings by Sevan Malikyan, titled: “Painting within” The exhibition will open on the 12 of April 2011 at 7.30 p. m. by Mr. Vartkes Mahdessian Representative of the Armenian Group, and will continue through 26 April 2011.
Having experienced painting and drawing for many years, the ultimate reflection within ones work is the spirit of the Drawing. The line is an integral part within the structure of the drawing to the painting. Although his work is constructed with an abstract frame, it is fundamental to achieve all possibilities to push further the two acts. The artist hopes to achieve the unknown element in painting through his work.
Sevan Malikyan was born in London to parents of Armenian Cypriot origin. He is a highly motivated and self disciplined studio based Artist with an extensive portfolio which demonstrates a dramatic and inventive body of work and documents the sensations through colour and techniques of social and personal drama.
Sevan started his Art education in London to receive his B.A Hons in fine Art from Bath School of Art and Design. Sevan exhibited his work at art venues as Riverside studios, Mall galleries where he was short listed for the Diana Brooks Prize and the Brick Lane Gallery. His work can be found in private collections in Cyprus, England, Barcelona, Tunisia and around the world.
In 2008 he moved to Cyprus and continued his studies at Cyprus College of Art to get his Postgraduate Diploma in fine art. In the same year he had his first solo exhibition on the island, at Aspelia Gallery in Larnaka. For the past 3 years he lives in Cyprus where he is a Resident Artist at Cyprus College of Art.
