Paper trails, paper tales
This exhibition showcases the works of 9 artists from Cyprus and abroad that investigate the new possibilities of paper.
The exhibition consists of drawing, three dimensional collage, installation, animation, and sculpture which explore the characteristics of paper as material, record keeper and storyteller. The artists have used simple materials together with paper such as pencil and ink or simply folding, cutting and pasting paper. This simplicity enhances the fine quality of paper; thinness, translucency, fragility, softness and pliability.
9 Cypriot and international artists who use paper as one of their primary medium of expression are brought together in the exhibition. The exhibition Paper trails, paper tales is organised by Cypriot artist Melita Couta and Japanese artist Chiaki Kamikawa who both live and work in Cyprus and will be showing their work in the exhibition. Comprising a group of local and international artists makes an investigation of the roles of paper in the contemporary artistic practice in a wider realm.
