Peru Mi Amor: Photographic Exhibition by Christina Drakos

A photo exhibition through the lens of Christina Drakos will be presented on Thursday the 12th of May at 19h30 at the Beat Παζάρ in Limassol. The exhibition will remain open until the 31st May 2016. All the proceeds will be donated to “Sagapo Children’s Foundation”, aiming to support the program «Free hands» in Limassol.

Christina Drakos, the renowned Cypriot photographer, will showcase her latest photographic work, featuring photos from her journey to Peru. Regarding her exhibition entitled « Peru mi Amor », the artist says: «Like any other form of art, photography creates its own reality. It captures the tension of the moment in a uniquely direct, vivid/vibrant and spontaneous way». Travelling to Peru , I photographed nature and its grandeur in different corners of the country as well as people in their everyday life. «Anything can happen while travelling. Even nothing at all».

About Christina Drakos
Born in Limassol, Cyprus, Christina Drakos studied Economics in Nice, France and Tourism Management in Paris. She travelled in more than sixty countries worldwide and worked in Northern America and Brazil. Her photographic work has been presented in exhibitions organized by the F.I.A.P. (International Federation of the Art of Photography) and in countries such as Austria, Slovakia, Australia, Yugoslavia, Brazil, Croatia, France, Italy, Scotland and China amongst others. For her contribution and photographic style, she was awarded the EFIAP distinction (Excellence FIAP) by the International Federation of the Art of Photography. She also participated in various competitions, such as the Pan-Hellenic Photo Contest and the Finnish Biennale, and her work has received several mentions and awards.

In Cyprus, Christina Drakos participates in various group exhibitions, as well as photo contests, organized by the Cyprus Photographic Society. In 2000, she was awarded the first honorable mention for her participation in the Pancyprian Photo Competition. In 2003, she was again awarded a distinction for the same competition, in which she participated with two unique photographs, printed in color and in black and white. A number of her photographs from her previous work, featuring coffee shops around the world, have been published in the booklet that accompanies the CD «Cafe Greco» by Nena Venetsanou, launched in 2003 in Athens. From 2001 until 2015, she presented her work in eighteen solo exhibitions in both Cyprus and abroad (Athens, Brussels, Istanbul, Paris, Bologna). Christina’s photographic work also features in various personal collections in many countries worldwide.
