Peter Sheppard Skærved - Violin Recital
Peter Sheppard Skærved, the only living violinist to have performed
on the violins of Niccolo Paganini, Joseph Joachim and G B Viotti,
presents a selection of works by Biagio Marini (1594–1663), Evis
Sammoutis (b. 1979), J J Rousseau (1712–1778), Michael Alec Rose
(b.1959), Heinrich Biber (1644–1704), Judith Bingham (b.1952),
Giovanni Bassono (1561–1617), Paul Pellay (b. 1965), Iannis Xenakis
(1922–2001) and P A Locatelli (1695–1764) that celebrates the
connections, flows, counterpoints, consonances and dissonances,
which vibrate, when an ancient violin is played, between the illusions
of ‘now’ and ‘then’.
