Plato's The Apology
The Cyprus Theatre Organisation will, on January 28 and 29, be hosting Plato's The Apology, a production by the National Theatre of Northern Greece (NTNG), which received great praise during the summer of 2015.
Directed by Demos Avdeliodis, the production has offered hundreds of spectators, who flocked to archaeological sites across Greece, the unique opportunity to watch the authentic re-enactment of the most riveting trial in the history of civilisation in its original ancient Greek language (with surtitles in modern Greek and English).
In the history of theatre, this is the first attempt at staging Socrate's defence speech in the ancient Greek language as found in Plato's original text, delivered in a natural and direct way, after two and a half years of meticulous rehearsals.
On the sidelines of the performances, Art Director of NTNG Giannis Anastasakis will be in Cyprus to sign a protocol of cooperation with the Cyprus Theatre Organisation.
