Ptolemy & European Cartographers
The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia will host an exhibition entitled “Ptolemy & European Cartographers of Eastern Mediterranean 1477-1777”, from the collection of Professor Andreas Nicolaides.
The purpose of the exhibition is to demonstrate the development of the cartography of Eastern Mediterranean from the time of the first printed atlas in 1477 to the late 18th century. The maps included in the exhibition will illustrate specific periods, cartographers, and technical aspects in the development of printing, as well as landmarks in the history of cartography with some references to the contemporary great discoveries that shaped the world.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by the President of The A. G. Leventis Foundation, Mr. Anastasios Pavlos Leventis on Tuesday 15 of February 2011 at 20:00.
The exhibition will be opened to the public until 30 April 2011.
