Russian Fragrance
Manolis Neophytou (piano) and Sona Gargaloyan (voice) will give a concert dedicated to Russian music. Amongst others, they will perform a fragment from the ballet The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky (piano transcription) and preludes and songs of the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Manolis Neophytou graduated the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire of Moscow and has received prizes in several piano competitions: 4th prize at the international competition in Senigallia of Italy and 2nd prize in the Greek competition “G. Thimis” in the Concert Hall of Thessaloniki. He has also represented Cyprus in the Eurovision contest for young musicians (Brussels, Warsaw, Lisbon). He has performed in various countries of Europe, in Korea and South Africa. He has published in 2004 his album “Homage to Greek music”.
Sona Gargaloyan studied at the National Academy of Komitas, in the class of the famous soprano Gohar Gasparian, from which she graduated with Distinction. She participated in concerts in the Opera and Ballet Theatre of Armenia. In 2003 she took part in the concert for the integration of Cyprus in the EU and in 2010 in the concert for the 50 years of the Republic of Cyprus. In 2006 she represented Cyprus in Paris in a concert that UNESCO organized, while she collaborated with the Cyprus Symphonic Orchestra many times.
