Savina Yannatou with Primavera en Salonico
The focus of this ‘magical’ encounter is placed on traditional songs from the Mediterranean and the Balkan regions, as well as from other parts of the world, arranged and performed in a modern and often unpredictable manner, characteristic of the way Savina Yannatou and Primavera en Salonico approach music in their discography.
Appearing together with Savina Yannatou and Primavera en Salonico are the Tunisian singer Lamia Bedioui who will perform traditional Arabic melodies, and Martha Mavroidi who will give us a taste of the Balkan music tradition. We will also enjoy traditional and free improvisations with voice and instruments, as well as the characteristic free improvisation of Savina Yannatou.
The title of the concert is inspired by the Sicilian song Terra ca nun senti, which is included in the latest album of Savina Yannatou and Primavera en Salonico, entitled Sumiglia (ECM).
The concert features:
Yannis Alexandris: oud, guitar, tamboura
Kostas Vomvolos: qanunn, accordion, kalimba, tamboura
Kyriakos Gouventas: violin
Kostas Theodorou: percussion
Haris Lambrakis: ney, flute
Michalis Siganidis: contrabass
Arrangements: Kostas Vomvolos
