The Ministry of Education and Culture, the European Film Academy and ARTos Foundation with the support of NeMe Arts Centre invite short film lovers to the festival of awarded European short films Short Matters! They have the pleasure to present for the ninth consecutive year the best European short films of the European Film Academy. The screenings will take place at ARTos Foundation in Nicosia on the 16th, 17th and 18th of September and at NeMe Arts Centre in Limassol on the 23rd & 24th September.
SHORT MATTERS is the European Film Academy’s short film tour which brings the short films nominated for the European Film Awards to a series of film festivals and institutions across Europe and beyond. Coming from various regions of Europe – Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Ireland, Palestine, Portugal, Russia, Spain, The Netherlands, UK and Ukraine – the 2014 SHORT MATTERS Programme featuring the short films nominated for the European Film Awards 2014 is a manifold panorama of young contemporary European filmmaking.
The 2,900 members of the European Film Academy selected “The Chicken” by Belgian filmmaker Una Gunjak, as the overall winner, which was presented at the 27th European Film Awards Ceremony in Berlin, in December 2014.

At each of these festivals, an independent jury presents one of the European short films in competition with a nomination in the short film category of the European Film Awards.
