Sipan Armenian Dance Ensemble
The Armenian dance ensemble, “Sipan” was founded in 1999, together with the “Timag” theatrical group, as part of the Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Hamazkayin “Oshagan”.
The forty five Armenian Cypriot male and female dancers will give an impressive performance of 22 traditional and modern Armenian dances.
The dances are one of the many ways with which the historical Armenian Cypriot community preserves its cultural heritage. Through dancing, a tight bond is created amongst the Armenian Cypriot youth, and also instills discipline, grace and pride. The dances connect them with their Armenian roots, the harshness of the Armenian land, the optimism of Armenian history, and the vigor of its music. Each dance has its own colorful outfit, designed by Janna Tahmizian, who has offered her services for the last decade.
The event is under the auspices of the Minister of Education and Culture, Dr. Andreas Demetriou, and under the patronage of the Representative of the Armenian Community, Mr Vartkes Mahdessian.
