Smiley (Pride Days 17)
«Smiley», a love story in the social media era
A smart performance, that will entertain and move at the same time, is going up for the first time in Nicosia for two performances only, as part of the festival, ‘Pride Days’ 2017. This is the subversive comedy ‘Smiley’ by Gillian Clown, one of the most talented Catalan writers translated by Maria Hadjiemmanual and directed by Marinos Anogiriatis.
‘Smiley’ is one of the smartest romantic comedies of the latest era. The heroes consist of two boys that fall in love, fight, and battle for the discovery of love, in an era where romanticism is reborn within smartphone keyboards.
An authentic love story, filled with emotion and laughter. It speaks with humour about the fears that everyone faces when they fall in love for the first time, the discovery of how much life has changed since communication was possible through social media, but also illuminates, in a unique way, the habits within the gay community.
Finally, ‘Smiley’ … smiles cunningly because it knows when it comes to love, we are all equal.
