Sol Aurorae Ensemble
Inspired by the music traditions of the Mediterranean and Middle East, the ‘Sol Aurorae Ensemble’ will present original compositions along with pieces from Cyprus, Israel, Greece, Armenia and Turkey at Technopolis 20 garden in Paphos, on Thursday, 12th of July 2018 at 8:30pm.
Sol Aurorae (sun of dawn) is a platform where the four musicians express feelings and ideas while sharing them to the audience through their music. Last summer they made their debut tour in Cyprus, and July they return with their second tour in the island, and will perform at Technopolis 20 garden for a second time as well.
The ensemble consists by Meir Gassenbauer (ney), Juliano Abramovay (fretless guitar), Christina Polycarpou (lyra) and Vassilis Philippou (voice, percussion).

A few words about the musicians
Meir Gassenbauer is an Israeli performer and composer, based in Netherlands since 2015. He is currently studying Turkish Ney in Codarts University of arts in Rotterdam. His music has influences from jazz and rock.
Juliano Abramovay studied classical guitar in Brazil and he is also a fretless guitarist and saz player with an interest in composition. This year he is finishing a master’s degree in Codarts, Rotterdam.
Christina Polycarpou was born in Cyprus where she currently lives, playing the Lyra with an interest in the Eastern Meditteranean music traditions. She is a student of lyra player Kelly Thoma.
Vassilis Philippou is a Cypriot musician who studied composition and piano in London and recently finished a composition masters in Netherlands focusing on Ottoman classical music.
