Songs of my Neighbours & The Cypriot Fiddler
Two teams will present their two separate, but interconnected, projects, joined by their shared interest in the music of Cyprus. On behalf of Center of Performing Arts MITOS, Diomedes Koufteros and Elena Agathokleous will talk about Songs of my Neighbours, a collaborative initiative aiming to use the arts, and the theatre in particular, to encourage dialogue and social justice between communities that share conflict. Nicoletta Demetriou will talk about The Cypriot Fiddler, at attempt to bring ethnomusicology and life writing together in a single project.
The evening will include the following:
18:00–19:30 Songs of my Neighbours: Documentary screening and Q&A session
19:30–20:00 The Cypriot Fiddler: Project presentation
20:00– Live Cypriot traditional music at The Home Café, accompanied by food and drink
