Songs of My Neighbours at Paramali
The waking of an abandoned village with theatre, music, song and treats.
Inspired by the stories and songs of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot Paramalians.
In an effort to transport a deserted village back to life- even for a day- a group of artists will guide spectators through an afternoon stroll in the village; a vibrant voyage through memory. They will narrate stories of this abandoned land, while elements of displacement, history, culture, tradition, myth and legend will be interweaved through a series of personal testimonies, performances, sound and visual installations.
This event was inspired following a series of interviews with Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot inhabitants of Paramali- old and current.
Participants: Michalis Tterlikkas, Marios Ioannou, Yolanda Christodoulou, Gülgün Kayim, Alkis Agathokleous, Lukas Walewski, Eleana Alexandrou, Eva Korae, Rooftop Theatre Group, Manolis Hadjimanolis, Irini Zinonos, students of Ag. Antonios High School, Limassol.
