Herding elephants in Nicosia
Sonja van Kerkhoff, in Nicosia for the go-ganesha-go peace project, is taking her herd of elephants for a walk along the Ledras street on Thursday May 7th, starting at the Nikokleous street from 9.30 till about 11 a.m. before herding them on the north side. These origami elephants are her "Greetings from Leiden", where the New Zealand born artist has lived since 1999. This is not the first time she has done such a deed. She has aired her lines of snails outside a museum in Oxford, in museum in South Korea, and on the street in New Zealand and Santa Monica. She is giving a talk about some of her performances and installations at The Bahai Centre, Parthenonos 11, Kaimakli, on Thursday, May 7th, at 19.30.
