Sophocles: Oedipus Rex
S. Evangelatos AMPHI-THEATRE
The action takes place on the last day of Oedipus role at Thebes. The city has been visited by a terrible plague. Oedipus has sent to ask Apollo's oracle about the cause of the infection. The answers come back that Thebes is being polluted by the presence of King Laius murderer. Oedipus determines to find the criminal and punish him.

The AMPHI-THEATRE was founded in 1975. It has focused its attention on three main sectors of the theater: the ancient Greek drama, the Greek theater of the period between 1600-1900 and at the same time, it has regularly produced plays by classical and cotemporary foreign writers. Throughout the 38 years of its continous presence, the AMPHI-THEATRE has produced more than 90 plays.
