Stavros Douzinas
Stavros Douzinas was born in 1953 in Athens, Greece, where he still lives today. He studied photography and scene-painting in Athens. His father was a painter and Stavros learned from him how to paint.
On 1971 he meets Jannis Tsarouhis, one of the most prominent painters of his time, and becomes his assistant for two and a half years.
On 1977 Stavros turns his focus towards advertising photography and works with GNOMI F.C.B. under the lead of the art director and painter Giorgos Varkintzis (George Varkintzis).
On his free time, Stavros attends painting sessions at the private studio of Giorgos Varkintzis, and he then becomes his assistant for six years.
With all this background Stavros begins to exhibit his own artistic creations.
His first exhibition's topic was "Atmospheric" and explored the problem of the polluted atmosphere of Athens (1981).
In 1983 Stavros's area of interest is around the homeless people of Athens. In the meantime, and since 1976, he cooperates with APOLLON ART GALLERIES in Myconos (Greece) and New Orleans (USA), and paints the light of Greece making landscapes from the beautiful Greek islands. He also paints characteristic portraits of farmers and fishermen from these islands.
In the 90s he paints still natures and performs many exhibitions around Greece.
In 1998 after a competition he becomes accepted as a member of the Conjectural Chamber of Greece.
Since 2000 he expresses the human loneliness by painting clowns.
He paints with the fashion of realism with oil on canvas.
In Greece he cooperates with four galleries of Lefakis and the ART CITY MIHALARIAS.
Portraits and other paintings can be found in private and public collections in Greece and all around the world.
