With light and charcoal - Stavros Kikas
On Thursday 25 October at 7.30pm the poet and critic of literature Panagiotis Nikolaidis will inaugurate the new painting exhibition by Stavros Kikas titled "With light and charcoal"
Stavros Kikas was born in 1969 in Nicosia. Originated from the village of Potamia, Nicosia.
Kikas received his first lessons in drawing and painting from the painter Nitsa Hatzigeorgiou, and then studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts in the studio of Dimosthenis Kokkinidis (1990 - 1995). In parallel, he attended workshops on Engraving, Icon-Painting, and Mosaic at the same school.
In 1993 and 1994, he received the Athens School of Fine Arts State Scholarship. In 1998, he was awarded the Silver Medal at the 1st Autumn Annual in Venice (Artaddiction). In the following year, he was awarded a distinction at the 1st Spring Annual in Venice (Artaddiction). In 2002, he received the First Prize for 'Cypriot Painters of the Third Millennium', and in 2012, the Archip Kuindschi Prize, Mariupol, Ukraine.
He is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece ( Ε.Ε.Τ.Ε.), and The Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts (Ε.ΚΑ.ΤΕ.).
