Stelios Kyriakides 10 km Road Race
We want to invite you, your family, and friends to the 2014 Stelios Kyriakides 10 km Road Race which will be held on Sunday 26th of October 2014. The 10 km race is organised from the ‘Running Club Stelios Kyriakides’ and it will be held at Statos-Agios Photios village, Pafos. The international annual sporting event comprises of a 10 km race, 1000 meters race for children up to 12 years old and a race of 2000 meters for children 13-15 years old. The 10 km race will start and finish at the village square – start time at 10:00 a.m. (start time for the smaller distances immediately after the start of the 10 km race).
All finishers will receive a commemorative, unique medal generously sponsored from Castrol the world’s leading premium lubricant specialist with over 100 years of history. Trophies will be awarded to the first 3 runners in each of the 16 age group categories. The 10 km Road Race ‘Kyriakidia 2014′ is also sponsored by the Statos-Agios Photios Community Council and the local wineries Makkas, Avacas, Kolios and Theophanous. All finishers of the 10 km race will receive a bottle of wine in recognition of their achievement!
The 10 km Road Race is dedicated to the memory of a local legendary marathoner Mr. Stelios Kyriakides who has won the 50th Boston Marathon in 1946. Kyriakides used his victory as a call to action to aid his war and famine-ravaged homeland. As his victory caused sympathy to Americans and mostly Greeks, he eventually managed to reach an amount of $ 250.000.
Entry fee for the 10 km race: 5 Euros (for non-members) paid on the day.
