Storytelling - Mary and the White Pea
A story about the heart’s power, its wonder and love. An adventurous journey among colorful, imaginative worlds, leading little Mary to empowerment and her inner, bright truth.
Demetra Socratous presents her book titled ‘Mary and the White Pea’ and illustrated by Dr Stella Karageorgi, through a joyful sequence of interactive and joyful activities.
The book presents the story of Mary, a child dealing with a White Pea (cancer). The whole story is given through symbolisms, metaphors, fantasy, sensitivity and bright humor, encouraging and empowering the children to approach powerfully and positively the topic. The book has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The event will be held in Greek.
Demetra Socratous is a primary school teacher, a drama facilitator, a human rights and peace trainer. She was the Coordinator of the ‘Youth and Culture’ Workshop of Pafos 2017 Cultural Capital of Europe back to 2012, as well as the co-Coordinator of the Cyprus Youth Network of the European Cultural Parliament. She writes tales, short stories and poetry, being awarded in Greece and Cyprus. She published the book ‘Mary and the White Pea’ on the special topic of children’s cancer constitutes and the poetry collection ‘Truths, Dreams and Peace’ which has been awarded by the Cyprus IBBY - Cyprus Association of Children's and Young Adults' Books (2016).
