Sugar Blues
Whether you can taste it or not, there is sugar in almost all the food we produce. But that there may even be sugar in tobacco might still take most people by surprise. The equally revealing and entertaining Sugar Blues lays out the bizarre and disturbing facts on the kitchen table. On average, we eat (and smoke!) 40 kg of the highly addictive white powder per year. And the speculators of the food industry intentionally add too much sugar to the food to make us strive for more. But how many sweet things can we possibly bear? And is there a way around the enormous amounts of sugar that we often consume without even knowing it? Andrea Culkovás's film is part of a larger campaign that aims to raise awareness about an urgent problem, which is not least a bomb waiting to go off under the health systems of western countries. The sugar shock of the year.
