Sketches of my life as a model
The Cultural Centre “Technopolis 20” presents Pien Perrée’s book “Sweet blossom and bitter herbs. Sketches of my life as a model”, on Saturday, 21st of March 2015, at 6.00 pm.
The book presents twelve short autobiographical stories alternate with pictures of Pien during her work as a (nude) model and works of art from the period 1979-2014.
When twelve years of age her artistic mother introduced Pien Perrée to the profession of a model. Her portrait and positions were often painted and sketched. Today she has been a model for 35 years and now she celebrates this milestone with this bilingual book.
Autobiographical "sketches" of her life take the reader from her artistic youth with art all around every day, to her exciting study in Amsterdam, where she studied communications psychology. Unfortunately due to a radical car accident in 1996 her life changed completely. Recurring depressions become more and more destructive. After the dramatic loss of yet another love affair, she ends up in Cyprus.
This island appears to be a haven of peace for her bruised brains. She experiences many cultural adventures here. Being a model is becoming a new dimension on this island so close to the Middle East, it keeps playing a significant part in her life.
