The Tales of Hambis (Larnaca)
Two Cypriot folk tales, "Spanos and the Forty Dragons" and "The Prince of Venice", which Cypriot engraver Hambis brought to life with his artwork, are featured in this musical performance by Giorgos Karvellos and Koulis Theodorou, entitled "The Tales of Hambis". Music, song, dance, image, and narration take the viewers, children and adults, on a journey into the magic world of two beautiful and adventurous stories, reminding them that even today good fairytales still live - happily ever after.
The music has been created by Giorgos Karvellos who had also composed the score for the dramatisation of the two tales, staged by the Theatrical Organisation of Cyprus some years ago, while the lyrics have been written by him and by Andreas Paraschos. Lead soloist and co-producer of the performance is Koulis Theodorou. Singers include also Umut Albayrak, Mariam Venizelou and the Children's Choir of Papadakeion Municipal School of Music. The music is played live on stage by an eight-member orchestra, while the dance parts, choreographed by Elena Christodoulidou, are performed by the Amphidromo Chorotheatro Dance Company. Stage direction is credited to Alexia Papalazarou.
