The Stone
Written in 2008 by Marius Von Mayenburg “The Stone” is staged for the first time in Greek by Cyprus Theatre Organisation.
The play deals with sixty years of the German history (1935-1993) in an ingenious way. A house which changes hands between three families. A play about the intrusion of the “other”, the possession of another’s property, the quest for identity, and the effort to detect the truth. In a play strongly reminiscent of Cyprus reality, the most turbulent period of modern history is unfolded without sermons or didacticism.
The play was translated into Greek by Giorgos Neofytou and is directed by Athina Xenidou.
