Theo Michael - Cyprus in focus

Theo Michael presents his latest work with the exhibition “Cyprus in focus” that will be held at the “Peter’s Gallery” art space. The exhibition duration will be from 15-25 June 2011.

Theo Michael was born in Larnaca Cyprus, but grew up and lived in England all his life. Currently living in Cyprus he decided to take up painting professionally three years ago, when his first painting was chosen to feature as the front cover of a Cypriot magazine and subsequently sold for a four figure sum.

Theo’s inspiration is taken from his immediate environment which he interprets in a nostalgic and narrative way. His paintings are strongly influenced by the film noir genre and often reminiscent of a movie still. Theo’s iconic work is deeply atmospheric, creating a sense of mystery that keeps the viewer returning again and again to the canvas.

Theo has spent the last few years working on portraiture and the tuition of students whilst building up his body of work. He is now fully concentrating on his oil painting at his studio in Larnaca town centre, on a subject which he is passionate about.

Enigmatic is a much overused term, but for the work of Theo Michael no other word will do.

The opening will be held by the Honourable Mayor of Kato Polemidia Mr. Giorgos T. Georgiou on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 8:00 p.m.
