Together On The Roof For Peace
Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The Day’s theme for 2017 is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All” and it focuses on engaging and mobilizing people throughout the world to show support for refugees and migrants. The message of the Day highlights solidarity with refugees and migrants and showcases the shared benefits of migration to economies and nations, while also engaging in discussions about legitimate concerns of host communities. Ultimately, the message of the Day is about bringing people together and reminding them of their common vision for constructing a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence.
The Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR), the Home for Cooperation (H4C) and the Home Café, in order to honor the International Day of Peace, cordially invite you to join us on September 21st, between 9 and 11 p.m., on the rooftop of the Home for Cooperation in the Buffer Zone for a celebration of our interconnectedness and our common humanity. Sofronis will be on the decks entertaining us with hits from the past, the present but also the future and drinks will be sold at the Home Café while one euro from each drink sold will be donated to two prominent organizations working with refugee and migrant children: Cyprus Refugee Council (Humanitarian Affairs Unit of the Future Worlds Center) and SOS Children’s Villages.
We look forward to seeing you there! Contact us at [email protected] for more information.
