Transgender Day of Remembrance
The vision of Accept-LGBT Cyprus is to create a society based on respect for the individual and their diversity without discrimination and pre-conceived notions, in particular with regards to matters of sexual identity. Although, in the last few years, a significant shift has been noted within the society of Cyprus, the events that occurred last November in relation to the Paola Revenioti exhibition which was confiscated by the Cyprus Police, along with the charges pressed against the President of the organisation for “Publication of Lewd Content" in a public space, are a clear manifestation of the long road ahead of us.
Every year on November 20th, the world honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. It is also a day on which the international community has the opportunity to highlight the problems faced by the transgender community on a daily basis. This year, the events in Cyprus have been organised by the “Trans Community Action group” of Accept, which consists solely of Trans people and aims at promoting issues that matter to the transgender people of our country
You presence will honor us and will encourage us to continue our advocacy towards a better society for everyone.
