Christos Antonaropoulos is an artist with an incredible depth of creative vision, who explores different means of expression with a victorious confidence of a knowledgeable master of his trade. During his carrier he has chosen to explore various artistic styles thus creating a wide range of pictorial outcomes.
His latest works of art are formed through a combination of many various elements, which include not only the pictorial, but also a psychological, theoretical as well as philosophical aspect. Aspects, which jump out at the art connoisseur with associations derived from our cultural experiences, memories and influences. One of the strongest associations that comes out most vividly, is the one of classic American genre of film ‘noir’. This genre’s striking characteristic is the distinctive low-key black-and-white visual style, which Christos Antonaropoulos has applied to his work very skillfully.
The use of symbolism is also widely explored by the artist by presenting stereotypical ideas such as the ‘Last Supper’ or the dead body of Che Guevara in a totally different setting and surrounding. The whole environment that Christos Antonaropoulos creates is complemented by the element that distinguishes all of the works: the addition of neon-light which is restrained by blinds but at the same time reinforces the mystical ratio of the result.
