Tzitrolemona
The evil daughter, the king, the beautiful girl, the dragon, the 27 wild dragon...heroes with no names but with unique qualities! Bewitched trees and fish... Nature that conspires to bring about the hero’s success. A hero that goes out into the world alone, facing the unknown and the unexpected in order to be redeemed and redeem others. “Tzitrolemona” is an original theatre performance based on the folk tale first published in the book “Cypriot Tales – Narratives with Dragons” compiled by the great Cypriot folklorist Nearchos Klerides. Like all folk tales and narratives of the people of Cyprus, “Tzitrolemona” have passed down the generations, quite often being recounted by illiterate people who have nevertheless kept this art form alive throughout the centuries. At a time when the oral tradition as a form of communication has disappeared from our daily life, theatre seeks to revive the interest in the folk narratives of our land and gives us to opportunity to reconnect with our roots and our past.
