Ubu Roi
The Nicosia Bar Association Drama Group “Obiter Dicta” presents Alfred Jarry’s satirical comedy “Ubu Roi”, which centers on an incompetent tyrant’s passion for political power. The play was written at the end of the 19th century and it highlights the grave consequences for the people when incapable and greedy men rise to power. Jarry’s message is, unfortunately, still valid in our times.
“Obiter Dicta” is a popular amateur drama group who have won the first prize at the 26th Pancyprian Festival of Amateur Theatre, organized by the Cyprus Theatre Organization, in 2013. 'Ubu Roi' competes in this year’s Festival. It is presented in the Greek language and is directed by Euripides Dikaios.
