Piano Recital with Vahan Mardirossian
The Pharos Arts Foundation continues its Concert and Recital Series with a recital by the exceptional pianist/conductor Vahan Mardirossian, scheduled to coincide with the release of Mardirossian's new CD with Beethoven's piano sonatas. The programme will comprise Beethoven's Moonlight, Pathétique, Pastorale and Tempest sonatas.
Vahan Mardirossian studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Jacques Rouvier. Since his début as a pianist, Mardirossian has frequently appeared with some of the world's most notable orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France, the Paris International Orchestra and the Bienne Symphonic Orchestra, and collaborated with conductors such as Kurt Masur, Yuri Ahronovitch, Yutaka Sado and Juraj Valcuha. His numerous recordings have been highly acclaimed by the critics and are regularly broadcast around the world. Mardirossian has collaborated closely with the composer Eric Tanguy, who dedicated his Second Piano Sonata to him, the late cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, Henri Dutilleux on his Piano Sonata and Krzysztof Penderecki on his Sextet. Mardirossian is simultaneously leading a promising career as a conductor, having conducted the Manhattan School Orchestra (after the invitation of Kurt Masur), the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Amalgames Orchestra, the Orchestre Régional de Cannes Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur, and the Orchestra of the Opera of Toulon. Forthcoming engagements include Mardirossian's conducting début with the Caen Symphony Orchestra with Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabedian as a soloist, as well as his Russian début with Novosibirsk Chamber Orchestra and pianist Elena Rozanova.
