Vasos Argyridis "Anthology" 25 Years Composing In Cyprus

A retrospective anthology of the work of the Cypriot composer. It includes samples of song cycles, theatrical music and songs, music composed for TV and cinematographic productions and instrumental music for dance, as well as the most important collaborations of the composer with great orchestras from abroad and performers from Greece.

Vasos Argyridis after 25 years of presence in the music field and creative work considers it an obligation to his audience (public) to collect and present his most important moments of composition through these years.

The concerts will include samples of song cycles upon poetry of Greek and Cypriot poets and lyricists, theatrical music and songs, music composed for TV and cinematographic productions and instrumental music for dance.

Vasos Argyridis, through this long course of 25 years, has presented his work in several theatres abroad working with major orchestras and artists.

Along with the composer at the concerts of 4th and 5th October 2012, other very distinguished artists will be participating as well, as some of his closest collaborators over the years.

Participating:
Vasilis Lekkas, Margarita Zorbala and Costas Hadjichristodoulou will interpret songs from different song cycles and time periods. Daphne Mouyiasi will choreograph and dance along the instrumental music of the composer, whilst an eight-membered vocal group will interpret some of his theatrical songs. Finally, a ten-membered orchestra composed of exceptional Cypriot musicians will accompany the soloists under the conduction of the composer.

Performances:
During the concerts song cycles upon the poetry of Dionysis Karatzas, Odysseas Elytis, Costas Fasoulas, Babis Anayiotos, Makis Antonopoulos, Michalis Pashardis, Demetris Lipertis, Anna Ahmatova and Vasos Argyridis will be presented.

Music and songs from the films of Andreas Pantzis "The slaughter of the cock", "The vow", "The joy and the sorrow of the body", as well as music from the film of Stelios Charalambopoulos "When time was suspended", will also be presented. Furthermore, songs from the theatrical plays "Wealth" by Aristophanes, "Lion-heart in Cyprus" by Andros Pavlides and "Maria Pentayiotissa" by Bost will be played.
