Vienna Mozart Orchestra
The Open University of Cyprus, within the framework of its social and cultural contribution, present two concerts with the internationally renowned Vienna Motsart Orchestra, the internationally acclaimed baritone Cypriot Cyrus Patsalides and ‘Aris Lemesou’ Choir.
The concerts will take place on 23rd of November 2009 (Strovolos Municipal Theater) and 24th of November 2009 (Rialto Theater Limassol). The concerts are orginized by the Open University of Cyprus with the goal of supporting and promoting the Cypriot music tradition and creation, along with the presentation of important works of classical symphony music.
In addition to well-known works of Mozart and Strauss, the program of the concerts includes traditional Cypriot songs, as well as the world premiere performance of the symphonic works of Prof. Andreas G. Orphanides “Symphony in D minor 'Olympic Legacy'” and the “Symphonic Poem ‘Anerada’ for Piano and Orchestra”. Note that it is the first time that the Vienna Motsart Orchestra will include in its repertoire traditional Cypriot songs and it rarely includes in its repertoire symphonic works by contemporary composers.
Tickets will be available for sale at the theaters. Strovolos Municipal Theatre, November 23rd, Tel. 22313010, Realto Theatre Limassol, November 24th, Tel. 77777745. Concerts begin at 8.30 pm.
