Walking under the stars: Cello & Piano
Chamber music evening with cello and piano
Cellist Robertas Grod together with his friend pianist Eugenijus Zarskus is inviting you a chamber music evening at Technopolis 20 in Paphos, on Tuesday, 18th of January 2019, at 8pm.
The audience will enjoy pieces written by composers from Brasil, Spain and France: the nostalgic Brazilian aria by H. Villa-Lobos, a piece by the Spanish M. de Falla full of authenticity and temperament, the variations by M. Marais that are perhaps some of the oldest in Europe with La Folia theme, a piece by G. Cassado, cellist from the 20th century known for his virtuosity and finally a delicate French humour by F. Poulenc that will make you smile.

A few words about the artists
Robertas Grod was born in 1991 in Lithuania, studied in Vilnius Balys Dvarionas music school (class of J. Veiverienė). He is laureate prize winner of national competitions (B. Dvarionas, J. Urba). In 2010 he entered Moscow State Conservatory (class of Prof. N. Shakhovskaya). In 2012 he won the 1st prize at Kozolupov competition in Moscow. In 2016 graduated the conservatory with honours and since then he lives and works for Musical Talent Development Program of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus under tuition of prof. M. Kariolou. Robertas often gives recitals across Lithuania, participates in national festivals.
Eugenijus Žarskus was born in 1972 in Ramygala, since 1985 has studied in the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art in the class of teacher N. Kereševičienė. In 1999 gained bachelors and master’s degrees in the Lithuanian Academy of Music, in the piano classes of the professors’ M. Azizbekova and. B. Vainiūnaitė, as well as professor’s A. Vainiūnaitė chamber ensemble class. In 1993- 1995 studied in France in C. Huve and C. Kintz’s classes. Eugenijus is currently working as a teacher in the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Art’s piano department. He has participated in the concerts of music festivals organized by the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society and the Foundation of M. Rostropovich.
