Wild Seed
Skala Theater opens the new theater season with the play "Wild Seed" by Yiannis Tsiros.
On the verge of Greece’s decline, a young German’s disappearance from a secluded beach mobilizes the authorities; led by a German special investigator and assisted by European tourists in the region, they delve into the causes of the disappearance and search for suspects. Stavros, who grills and sells kebabs on the beach with his daughter, can feel the suspicions piling around him. The hog slaughtering with the annoying screaming, his disorderly conduct, his tax violations, debts and recalcitrance regarding financial provisions and laws - along with everything that constitutes his daily struggle for survival - fuel the prejudices and work against him. Together with his daughter, he fails to accurately understand why they are considered suspects. Their apology is weak because the accusations are always based on half-truths; but when a half-truth is complemented with bias, it is enough for a conviction.
