Windcraft Music Fest 2
The power of sounds produced by the human breath will be colouring the summer nights of the 2nd Windcraft Music Fest, taking place on 21st and 22nd August 2015 at Katydata Soleas. The second version of Windcraft Music Fest focuses on wind instruments and the voice, hosting artists and bands from Cyprus and Greece that will present their original compositions or a “fresh” approach to well-known tunes.
The two main stages - one in the yard of the village’s old inn and one set in a picturesque orchard - will host six bands from different musical backgrounds, having in common their use of winds and the voice.The narrow streets of the village will be filled with the sound of winds and melodic voices throughout the day, while children and adults will be able to participate in free music workshops combining education with fun. Traditional Cypriot music will be given a special place in the festival. Following the theme of the event, folk musicians will demonstrate how to make and play the traditional flute pithkiavli, while singers will duel in the traditional tsiattista singing style.
Visitors will also have the chance to experience the hospitality of the locals and listen to their stories by visiting an exhibition of Historic Photos from the archive of the village.
The festival aims in promoting the musical creativity of the artists and in bringing closer the local art scene with the traditional environment of the countryside in order to create a common space for cultural interaction.
