WMWMWM
“What happens in Croak’s head, when eyes and ears are shut? Croak, an aged man, is drawn down to his “visible soundspace”, where Words and Music poetically voice out all of his intellectual struggles: memory and oblivion, sense and sensibility, pastime and meditation.Gradually, this battle rising from “the darkness of sound”, reveals a bittersweet loneliness and the irreversible fading of flesh and spirit.
«WMWMWM» is the first project of Belacqua Theatre. It consists a staging and visualising attempt of Samuel Beckett’s radio play “Words and Music” (1962), written exclusively for BBC.The renown Beckettian schema of “master-servant”,is transferred to the inner locus of the protagonist,Croak, thus it is presented as a monodrama.
