World of Jazz Festival - Aphrodite Hills

Aphrodite Hills Resort would like to invite you to an experience you will never forget. Join us for our third pleasure-packed Jazz Festival, to be held on Saturday 6th October 2012, from 5.00pm till late at Aphrodite Hills’ Village Square.

The Jazz Festival returns to Aphrodite Hills with a host of world-class artistes and emerging stars, offering a music programme of back-to-back concerts, set in the most exquisite and luxurious 5-star surroundings.

This year’s event presents a much larger programme than previously, featuring a variety of internationally acclaimed bands and solo artistes.

Leading the ‘Sarah Fenwick Trio’, Sarah Fenwick was born in Kenya in 1966 and grew up in the West Indies, Cyprus and the UK. Her great passion in life is singing jazz and for 16 years she has performed with the best jazz and blues musicians in Cyprus, the USA, Italy, Kuwait and Israel.

Heading up the ‘Haig Yazdjian Trio’, musician and composer Haig Yazdjian hails from Syria; the homeland from where he draws his musical inspiration. He has collaborated with some of the greatest artistes in Greece and beyond, succeeding in all stages of musical production, whilst his live performances always constitute a special event.

From Limassol, Cyprus, our very own double bass player, Irenaeos Koulouras performs in the awe-inspiring ‘Koulouras Quintet’. Irenaeos studied in New York and his music is renowned all over Cyprus. He was the highlight of our 2011 Jazz Festival.

Spanish drummer and percussionist, Marc Miralta started playing drums at the age of just 7 and began taking lessons at 11. Marc plays a variety of percussion instruments including the vibraphone, marimba and ‘tables’ and has performed with numerous internationally recognised musicians. For the Jazz Festival, he performs in an impressive quartet of distinguished musicians.

The Festival also features saxophonist Asaf Yuria from New York, who brings the soothing tones of the sax to the stage. He has performed internationally and also in collaboration with another of our guest artistes, Amos Hoffman. Tel Aviv-based guitarist and oudist, Amos Hoffman attended the prestigious Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem. His search for new musical experiences took him to New York City, where he has played jazz with many established musicians.

Created and produced by the Aphrodite Hills Events Team, the Jazz Festival promises by far, to be a stirring experience with its magnificent blend of Jazz styles complemented by an intoxicating festival spirit. Many styles of music are represented, including Blues/Rock, Modern Jazz, Traditional Jazz, Funk/World/Afro and Latino/World.

As this is an event for all the family, there’s a variety of local finger foods, with wine, beers and beverages available. Kids’ Corner offers numerous activities to keep your children happy and entertained.
