Xperimental 7.0 Film & Video Festival

The Xperimental film & video festival continues its success in collecting and coordinating creators of all kinds who have chosen to express themselves through film. Experimentation is described as an upcoming art movement, which has recently introduced itself to the Cyprus arts scene with surprising dynamism. In itself, experimentation can be seen objectively, individually and most of all personally. The character of any form of experimentation in art releases an honest and playful visual expression. The participants of the Xperimental festival have each developed their own unique style of film producing an atmospheric result either technically, visually, or through a given concept. The beauty of experimental films lies within its final result, and its result can best be described as removing boundaries and limits within art. The festivals’ main aim, throughout its brief but successful history, has been to give creative people of all kinds a medium and an opportunity to let them show the Cyprus audience their own personal visions through film. The Pantheon Cultural Association believes that experimentation in all forms of art must be supported in order to keep the vibe of fresh ideas and new ways of thinking alive.

In a time where the art of cinematography has been recognized as an important medium of expression, creativity and entertainment, and having a gradually growing resonance throughout the public, the Pantheon Cultural Association organizes the xperimental film festival. Short films, experimental videos and animations will be screened alongside a few installations.

The main aim is to bring the artists and the public closer to work which mirrors modern circumstances, troubled thoughts and personal views of their creators. Focusing on four generalized divisions, video art, documentary, short film and animation, the XPERIMENTAL film festival hopes to promote a new way of thinking concerning film making. Xperimental is organized in order to bring all film creators (and viewers) together while giving the spectator a complete experience of video art in Cyprus while not placing limits on creativity, realism or technique. The films appearing at the festival prove what can and has been created by talented and creative individuals who aim to further international’s standards using the seventh art.

Understanding the complexity of such an art form the Pantheon Cultural Association has opened up a new gateway for experimentation, welcoming artists and creators to pick up any form of media equipment, and piece together their own expressions. The festival aims to celebrate the art of film rather than its traditional narrative form.
