XX/XY: Gender Revelations
The Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies (MIGS), in cooperation with Rooftop Theatre and the Cyprus Family Planning Association, is delighted to present the theatre production entitled “XX/XY Αποκαλύψεις Φύλων” (XX/XY Gender Revelations) that will be held at the Open Theatre in Nicosia on the 5,6, and 9 May 2010.
The production will take place within the framework of the Project Youth Alert: Theatre for the Promotion of Gender Equality Awareness among Young People, funded by the EEA Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, and the Republic of Cyprus.
The main aim of the project is to raise awareness and critical thinking on gender [in]equality and gender socialization among young people while providing them with a forum to become actively involved in addressing these issues using creative and innovative methods including theatre. The project activities included a series of workshops with young women and men were on gender equality issues using theatrical methods of the Theatre for Social Change, resulting in the development of a unique threatre production that reflects the concerns of young women and men in Cyprus in relation to gender equality and gender-based violence.

The production is directed by Ellada Evangelou, scenery/costumes/video art by Ann Photiadou, Assistant Costume Designer Leda Koumides, Musical Direction Poly Papavassiliou. Participating as actors: Christina Demetriadou, Eythymia Priki, Giorgis Regginos, Leda Koumides, Louis Loucaides, Marianna Georgoulia, Miranda Nychidou, and Polymnia Tomasidou.
